The technical foundation of S-TYPE LTD., Co. can be traced back to 1991. In those early years, the senior generation of our founding team worked in a professional grinding machine manufacturing company, dedicating themselves to the production, process development, and application technology of centerless grinding machines.

Their belief was simple and unwavering:

This philosophy remains the core value that continues to guide S-TYPE today.

For more than 30 years, we have been fully dedicated to centerless grinding — not only the machine itself, but the complete grinding process. S-TYPE is committed to real-world usability, repeatability, and mass production stability in centerless grinding. To meet the demands of different industries, materials, and part geometries, we have developed several specialized systems and machine series:

• NC / CNC Centerless Grinding Machines
High-precision NC and CNC centerless grinders equipped with automatic wheel dressing, profile forming, and automatic size compensation. These functions ensure consistent dimensional accuracy from batch to batch, reduce operator dependency, and increase production efficiency and yield.
Applications include precision shafts, automotive components, tooling parts, medical-related parts, and other tight-tolerance workpieces.

• Roller-Type Diamond Dressing Mechanisms (for CBN and Diamond Wheels)
Superabrasive wheels such as CBN and diamond offer high hardness, long life, and aggressive cutting performance — but they are difficult to dress using traditional methods.
Our dedicated roller-type diamond dressing system provides fast, stable, and repeatable dressing performance. This allows customers to maintain wheel geometry, extend wheel life, and fully realize the advantages of CBN and diamond grinding wheels in continuous production.

• Form Dressing Systems for Conventional Grinding Wheels
When the part is not just a straight diameter — for example stepped diameters, tapers, radii, shoulders, angles, or complex contours — dressing quality directly controls cycle time and throughput.
Our in-house form dressing solutions can rapidly generate complex geometries on standard grinding wheels. This shortens setup time, improves repeatability, and supports stable, high-precision, high-volume centerless grinding.

Automation Solutions: Integrated and Built Around Your Workpiece

Modern precision manufacturing requires more than tight tolerances. It requires process stability, takt time control, 24/7 operation capability, and minimal labor.

S-TYPE designs automation around the actual workpiece, real cycle time, and upstream/downstream process requirements — instead of offering a generic loader. Our automation engineering covers the full grinding cell, including loading, positioning, grinding, dressing, gauging, unloading, sorting, and final collection.

Our automation portfolio includes:

• Long Bar Automatic Grinding Systems
Designed for continuous grinding of long rod and shaft-type components.
– Supports diameters from Ø3 mm up to Ø100 mm
– Supports lengths from 3 meters up to 6 meters
– Maintains straightness, support stability, and dimensional accuracy during feeding, positioning, support, and grinding
Ideal for long shafts, guide rods, hydraulic cylinder rods, and other precision bar components requiring high consistency in mass production.

• Infeed / Plunge Grinding Automation (Stationary Grinding)
After the workpiece is positioned and clamped, the system performs infeed / plunge grinding on specific areas or multiple diameters of the same part.
– Suitable for stepped geometries, multi-diameter parts, and parts requiring local stock removal
– Common in automotive and motorcycle components, precision jigs and fixtures, and certain medical-related devices
– Can be fully integrated with clamping/fixturing, positioning, auto dressing, inline gauging, and robotic pick-and-place for unattended operation

This corresponds to automated infeed grinding / plunge grinding / stop-type centerless grinding systems.

• Through-Feed Grinding Line Integration
For high-volume continuous production using through-feed centerless grinding, we deliver fully integrated lines.

• Fully Customized Process Solutions
In many cases there is no “standard machine” that fits the part.
We co-develop complete automation solutions with the customer based on:
– Workpiece material (carbon fiber, carbide, high-carbon steel, alloy steel, heat-treated components, etc.)
– Dimensional tolerance requirements
– Target roundness, straightness, and concentricity
– Required cycle time and manpower targets

The delivered solution includes fixtures, holding strategy, loading/unloading method, dressing logic, size compensation strategy, and process control philosophy.

On the grinding floor, problems that appear to be “machine problems” are often process-integration problems. Typical causes include:
– Incorrect support blade / work rest geometry or angle
– Insufficient rigidity in clamping and support, causing vibration
– A dressing method that is not suitable for the current wheel type
– Infeed timing, dwell, spark-out, and compensation logic that are not tuned to the part
– Unstable part handling between loading, grinding, and unloading

Over more than 30 years of hands-on grinding, testing, corrective action, and re-validation, S-TYPE has built practical, proven expertise in:

• How the angle, material, and shape of support blades / work rests influence part stability and line contact in centerless grinding
• How different grinding wheel materials (conventional WA / GC, CBN, diamond) behave on different workpiece materials in terms of roundness, surface finish, thermal behavior, and tool life
• How the wheel flange, dressing unit, fixturing, infeed system, and outfeed/collection system must work together as one integrated grinding cell
• How to choose the correct accessories to shorten setup/changeover time, improve dimensional repeatability, and reduce required operator skill
